This is a durable and well made sheet of thick vinyl, similar to the large pieces that sit under your desk while allowing your desk chair to move more easily on carpet.I have a new floor and a dog with nails. His favorite thing is to spring jump like a diving board, off the bed and down the long hallway. If he gets a good enough jump, he can slide all the way to the end and make a full curve to the left all while digging his nails into my new floor.I was looking for something to either slow down his slide or stopping it all together. Either way, I needed to stop his nails from damaging my floor.I had ordered a regular rug which, unfortunately didn’t stop or slow down the slide. In fact, it only improved his technical ability, making him a diving/sliding champion. Within a few weeks, I noticed the rug was being cut like ribbons. His nails tearing right through the materials and reaching the floor beneath. Unfortunately, I can’t be too picky about the carpets I get for this space due to the size I need. It’s an odd size and only a few carpet companies offer it leaving quality at the door.I am hoping this thick vinyl will be enough to stop his nails from making contact with the floor. It’s thick enough to keep office chairs from doing any damage to floors so, it may be just the trick.This vinyl is very thick, well made, durable and looks great.One side is smooth and clear while the other is textured and rough giving you options.When sitting on the plain floor, you can see the texture but sitting on top of carpet, you do not notice it as much. Whatever you decide to sit it on top of, you will be able to see the beauty of the floor underneath the vinyl carpet.When it first arrives, you will need to warm it up and allow it to unfurl. It’s tightly wrapped and will need time to relax so you can lay it flat. Make sure you clean the floor well before you set it down because there is some static cling due to the material and whatever is on your floor, will attach to the carpet and be difficult to remove without effort.If the carpet size isn’t to your liking, you are also able to cut this carpet to fit your needs making it more versatile.Overall it’s a very well made carpet that will show the beauty of your floor underneath while stopping your floor from getting damaged.

Thick and sturdy – but hard to handle
This is a thick, heavy, and sturdy item for the money. It’s difficult to handle on your own, so you may want to make sure there’s someone around to help. I had a bit of a circus trying to get it down on the floor in my house because it was a bit difficult to get out of the packaging and then was a tad bit too wide for the hallway I wanted to put it in.After wrestling it back up and transferring it to the kitchen, I quickly realized my error in not first sweeping. We have a robot vacuum that cleans daily, but still every piece of dirty and dog hair suctioned itself to the mat immediately. You’ll want to make sure the area is cleaned extra well before trying to put it down. I ended up having to pull it back up to clean things.Initially when rolling it out, there were crimps on the mat. Given how thick it is, I imagine those will straighten themselves out in no time.I’m sure it will protect the floors well, but getting it set up in a home with three pets was a doozy.

Heavy Duty
High-quality, heavy-duty runner. Excellent thickness, not flimsy at all. It was the perfect size for our downstairs hallway. We actually use it underneath a carpet to keep it from slipping all over when our lab mix gets frisky and starts darting around the house. The runner has very good (maybe not quite excellent) slip resistance, and certainly helps. Also, excellent protection for the hardwood floors. Good value, would buy again

nice weight and looks nice
The weight of the plastic mat is quite nice and it looks nice when rolled out. It fits the dimensions of what I got, but seems like it will cut will to make smaller mats as well. It also seems to grip well (both to walk on and to the floor), so it is useful from that prospective – not sure if that will translate to if it is wet, so something to consider.IT is decently thick and well made, so I suspect it will hold up well over time as well.

Feels tough and durable.
This runner is REALLY clear. It’s not like the runners your Grandma had with the spikes at the bottom to hold it in place. It comes with double sided adhesive stickers to hold it in place. I assume those are for hard smooth surfaces. Mine is on carpet and it slid easily only when I was putting it into place but not when walking across it. Most rugs tend to slowly crawl out of place on carpet. This runner is about the same. It’s pretty thick as well. The edges weren’t hard to get to lay flat after unrolling. I didn’t notice any smell either. You can barely see this runner. I like it.

This is the 5-star for what it is! Not like plastic runner for sure. With our rainy season here and in full swing, I needed to do something to protect our floors from the traffic in and out of the back door…which includes two sometimes very wet and muddy dogs. It is odorless (yay!), very clear PVC. I really like the transparency of it, believe that it will be easy to cut to size (which I will do only after it relaxes a bit), and seems like it’ll stay in place pretty well without any adhesive. It’s just thick enough that I don’t worry about damaging it, but thin enough I also don’t worry about tripping on it. My only criticism is the 4 small adhesive pieces they send with this, which seem inadequate to secure a 3 ft X 10 ft runner. I don’t intend to use them though, so no loss there. Price seems absolutely reasonable.

Perfect for use on a carpet!
I am so happy with this runner! We have carpet in our home offices and it is showing wear from our office chairs rolling on it. I have been looking for a mat to help with this but most are to protect hard wood floors. This one doesn’t have the sharp plastic nubs that older types of carpet protectors has but it doesn’t need it. It stays in place and it doesn’t impede the rolling of our chairs. Since we don’t need a 10′ piece in one office, we were able to cut it in half to use in both offices. The $48 price makes it reasonable since we were able to double the use.
