I love it, but one bottle leaked… OR DID IT? UPDATED!
I love this dispenser. I use foaming soap in my bathroom and kitchen, and I purchase large refill bottles of the soap so I’m always refilling the bottles I have. But I’m never happy with the flimsy bottles in which the soap originally comes. The pump mechanism makes those units top-heavy so they topple or slide around when you push on the pump. But these InterDesign bottles have a larger round base and are much more sturdy. Plus, they look much better than the brand bottles! The brushed chrome finish matches the hardware and other accessories in my bathroom and looks like it belongs as part of the decor.I loved this enough to purchase a second one for my kitchen and I’ve had my dispensers for about a month now. The pump mechanism has not stopped working on either bottle. I’m currently using regular liquid soap mixed with water (amount/ratio indicators on the bottle) instead of foaming soap and it works great! Given what I paid, I’ll be happy if these dispensers last a year.I did deduct a star because one of my dispensers leaked. At first I thought I and my guests were just going through a lot of soap during the holidays. But last night I filled the bottle, dried it and set it on a dry paper towel. Sure enough this morning approximately one inch of soap had drained from the bottle. There is a seam on the bottom of the bottle and I suspect it was defective or was damaged in the delivery process. I’m returning that bottle for a replacement since my other bottle has no such issue. The Amazon return process is pain-free, so this was an easy decision.UPDATE: I received my replacement bottle and when I was transferring the soap from the old to the new, I noticed that my old bottle was actually cracked. I’m certain this was not a defect in the bottle. In fact, I’m probably the one who dropped it and didn’t notice it had a tiny crack in it. I notified Amazon that I would not be sending it back and to simply charge me for the replacement but they told me to keep both bottles and they aren’t charging me for the replacement. THAT is customer service! I’ve added in the previously deducted star. Thank you Amazon and InterDesign!PS – the pump on my dispenser is still working fine. Based on my experience with other foaming soap dispensers (and some of the other reviewers’ advice) I’m sure it will be a matter of running hot water through the mechanism to loosen and dissolve dried up gluey soap when it does happen.

Pump sticks down
The pump keeps getting stuck down after only one week of use. I have to manually push and pull the top for it to work. I give up, worked great at first!

Update: short lifespan
Update: After less than four months, the pump on this dispenser no longer works. It’s quality decreased steadily after about two months and now it doesn’t dispense any foam. I’m disappointed.Original: I bought this pump to replace a foaming glass one from Menards. I prefer in every category– quality of foam, ease of pushing the top, looks and practicality. The guide of how much soap and water to use is so helpful! It definitely beats eyeballing it out grabbing a measuring cup when I need to refill the soap. My young children can easily push down the top to get foamy soap. It’s been great!

Great foam soap dispenser
I found a great foaming hand soap dispenser! The clear and brushed nickel design is both modern and functional. The fact that it can convert regular liquid soap into foam is a fantastic feature. I appreciate how the level markers help eliminate guesswork when mixing soap and water. It’s also a plus that it’s made of plastic, making it more durable. Highly recommend.

Saves soap, more effective, and great for kids
Great to have. We have purchased several of these– one for the kitchen, and one for each bathroom — so 4 in total now.The kitchen one seems to have worn out, though. The pump does not fully return to an up position without some help. I’ve taken it apart and tried cleaning out the aerator (it had developed a bit of gunk somehow) and then pumped about 2 cups of water through it to make sure soap buildup had flushed through. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. All in all, this is great to have when you have kids. Rather than losing 90% of the soap down the drain it delivers a more effective soapy mixture into their hands. The appearance fits perfectly into our bathroom and kitchen design/color as they’re all oil brushed bronze appearance.

Problems with the pump
I had to return the first pump received, as defective. It allowed the air to return to the soap container, instead of mixing with the soap solution. Amazon replaced quickly without any issues. The second one has worked fine for about a month but now the pump is starting to stick in the down position and has to be lifted up by hand. I have cleaned the pump in warm water, pumping just water through it but it still sticks. The pump is very attractive, a very nice size to have on the bathroom sink counter, but the pump is a problem on the two I have tried. The thread size on the bottle is the same as used by the disposable Dial foam pumps, which I have used that lasted over a year by being refilled. I am using a mix of 1/5 Dial bath gel and 4/5 distilled water for the soap. Tried it with store purchased premixed soap solution with the same sticking problem. I am not sure if the pump plunger is sticking due to build up or if the spring is losing it’s tension from being used. The spring used appears to be a smaller diameter than the one used by Dial in their disposable prefilled pump bottles. Not sure if I would order another one or not. Two bad pumps in a row, isn’t what I would like to get in a foam soap pump,of this price. On edit: At the end of two months use, the plunger would stay down till pulled up, so using the dispenser became a two handed operation. I removed the pump, rinsed it in warm water but the plunger still was sticking. Then I put about an inch of vegetable oil in a paper cup and pumped this through. After 4 or 5 pumps, the plunger stopped sticking and returned to the extended position by itself. Pumped some warm water through it to get rid of the vegetable oil and put the pump back in the soap solution. Worked like new and has continued to work for a week now. Appears the two plastic cylinders inside this pump need to be lubricated. Time will tell how long the vegetable oil will keep it working.

A wonderful product. The plastic is of high quality and the foam pump is heavy duty. The best part is that it doesn’t have any component which spoils due to hard water.
