The BEST steamer basket EVER!!!
WOW, it works so well, is foldable and stores so easily! And this stainless steel steamer basket is very pretty also. Feeling much better about steaming my vegetables too – much more nutritious. I have found the KitchenAid brand to be very high quality (we have their refrigerator, range and microwave oven) and this fits right in with our expectation of beauty, longevity and practical daily use.

Versatile Steamer Basket
This streamer folds down to 6-1/2″ in diameter, and expands to 10″. It can be used in different sizes of pots to accommodate different amounts of food. The pictures show it in a 2-1/2 qt. pot, a 6 qt. pot, and a 7.5 qt. Dutch oven. It’s fully extended in the Dutch oven. The 2-1/2 qt. pot is the smallest pot I’d use. It’s dishwasher safe and easy to store.

Just what i needed
It works great and compact and flexible for the size of your pot. It does need opening instructions (just pull the “petals” open), and it’s also very sharp. I cut my wrist while cleaning it, the edges of the “petals” are as sharp as a razor.

Kitchenaid steamer basket
I have had the bamboo steamers before and they were great however do not last as long as this stainless steel version. I love that it is compact when not in use, taking up much less space. It is so versatile as it adjusts to many different size pans with folding legs and a telescopic handle. Steaming vegetables are so much healthier for you.

Maybe I just got a bad one.
Works well but it fell apart after it’s first use and I had to break out the jewelry screwdriver set to fix it. I like it but quality control didn’t do it’s job on this one. I love kitchenaid stuff and I’m usually going to rave about how easy to use their stuff is, but I didn’t appreciate having to fix it right out of the box.

Falls apart
Every time I use this the central stem comes undone and pulls off as I am trying to lift the basket out of the pan of boiling water. It’s like the screws holding it in place just easily come out. I screw them in as far as they will go but they both don’t catch at the end and seem a bit short. Not sure if it’s a universal problem or if I have a lemon but it’s actually dangerous to use. Have lost several batches of steamed vegetables and been splashed with hot water.

I cant use it as I cant get it to open out as per the picture on the webdite and the box. There are no instructions with the steamer.

I think this is a great tool to have. I love that one size can shape to all sorts of pots. I like that it has little feet to keep it above the level of the water, and small and compact. I would recommend anyone home cooks have this device.
