The Ice Age Great Mother Goddess, this figurine is one of the oldest and most famous Paleolithic Venus images. The original was found in Willendorf, Austria, and is 4 inches tall, of carved limestone tinted with red ocre. Her sumptuous figure may have been a symbol of the bounty of Nature, which provides a surplus of food for the whole tribe. Her overflowing breasts were the first food of all humanity: Our Lady of Abundance. That image became deified as the Divine Ancestress of the Clan, or The Great Mother. The piece, reproduced by artist Oberon Zell, is very close in size and texture to the original. The figurine is separate from the base upon which she stands.

Love her! Hail Venus of Hohle Fels
This is a great version of our Germanic Fertility Goddess. She is beautiful and has her own stand. A bit bigger than the size of my palm. I have medium sized hands. Definitely recommend.

Detail is astounding – She is Beautiful
As pictured and detailed to the pictures of the actual Woman of Willendorf. The red tint of her skin, which typically shows up as a yellow-brown hue in pictures but can be reddish as in the photograph taken by Steve Zucker (Naturhistorisches Museum, Vienna; photo: Steven Zucker, CC BY-NC-SA 2.0), also reminds me of the meaning of adamah אֲדָמָה (f.n.), from which the ‘adam’ was derived, meaning “ground; soil, earth, land” and said to be derived from אדם which means “to be red”, originally denoting ‘the red arable ground’. While ‘arable’ doesn’t describes oolite limestone, it is intriguing that oolite itself begins in warm, shallow marine water containing dissolved calcium (shells) and other minerals in it. Makes me think the oral stories that were handed down over thousands of years contained the same thought we have today – life emerged from mud, be it sea or lake, since both have shells which is part of the composition of this oolitic limestone. That makes it seem like it would be easily broken but it is said to be durable and hard. So I love how this figurine is propped into her stand, much like it is believed she may have been set in soft ground to be upright since she never had feet. Out of the mud .. Mother of all living. First woman – the goddess worshiped by the man. Very cool.I will never get to see the Woman of Willendorf in the museum but I can hold her in my hand now. Thank you. She is simply gorgeous. Someone made the statue about 28000 BC. Just beautiful. Paleolithic people were artistic which means intelligence. Humans have always had the capacity for intelligence. We have not come that far after all. She still invokes humbleness.

Gorgeous & Beautifully Made!
I am so impressed with this piece! The detail is perfect, I love the size – about the size of my hand – and just beautiful color. Love it, came back to order another one as a gift for a friend.

Looks and feels authentic
I was afraid since it’s “resin” that it would feel like plastic. But it feels like stone. Cool to the touch, solid, and weighty. I much prefer this “holder” over having her mounted as a stand. She is meant to be removed and held. And her little footprints in the “stone” holder is just adorable.

A Great Gift for the Right Person
If you want to buy a thoughtful gift for anyone who appreciates art history as I did this is a great choice. And the color is the original color of the piece. And it displays nicely with the included base.
