Pole Barn Lighting on a Budget: embrace your inner Hillbilly!
Worked like a charm. I was scheming a way to provide decent overhead lighting on a budget for a 30′ x 40′ pole barn that is yet to be hard wired for electricity. I used this string in conjunction with 6 of these Maxxima Light Bulb Socket Splitter For LED, CFL and Standard Bulbs Pack of 3 and 2 of these 4-way splitters Fancierstudio 4 Socket Adapter 4 in 1 Adapter Holder E27 Bulb Lamp Light Socket Splitter For Photo Studio By Fancierstudio 6801 then loaded them all with BR30 65 watt equivalent LED Floods TCP LBR301050KND6 LED BR30 – 65 Watt Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Flood Light Bulb – 6 Pack. The plastic cages on the light strand remove easily. Hung the cord and socket hangers with screw-in hooks. The truss beams are about ~13′ from the floor. There are a total of 21 x 8.5watt LED floods on the string = just under 180 watts total to light the entire barn nearly as bright as day!!! I wasn’t sure if it would all work out like I hoped but it exceeded my expectations.OK, I just went back out to the barn in 15F-degree weather just to plug the lights in, look at them again and marvel at how much better it looks than I imagined.

    Great Alternative to Permanente Lighting
First, the light cage is different then what’s advertised. (Not a big deal) The cord and light socks are well made and durable. The light cage is flimsy, but not an issue. You can use CFL bulbs and there is a female, two prong, connector on the end. Make sure to purchase some hooks to hang the lights on and cable fasteners.I love this light set. It’s exactly what I was looking for to brighten up our 2 1/2 car garage. I do a lot of automotive repair and body work, so having good lighting is very important. These lights, positioned properly, will give enough lighting to your work area. I use a combination of six 75w and four 100w CFL day light bulbs. (They only use 203w total) So, our whole garage has lighting now and cost under $100. Can’t beat that.

    string lighting
Needed lighting for new construction home. These worked well. Installed 100 watt equivalent led bulbs. Plastic light cage flimsy but works. Overall a good buy.

great unit – other than the cages.
wow. i have a 1100sqft house. i tacked this up in my crawl space while encapsulating it and i am loving all the light. the one con on this purchase (as i think you will see in the rest of the reviews) is that the cages are poo. they just don’t match the quality of the rest of the item.. but they are in a space (for me) that will rarely see much ware, so it works… i wouldn’t use this if you were taking them up and down all the time or having to change bulbs a lot.. the cages just aren’t worth the hassle and aren’t quality enough.

100’ of illumination in a hurry
Great product as described, only has the male end to plug in, which is great for my use. Used as crawl space lighting and works great. The cages are cheap but are not a problem for my application.

    Lit our Grange Hall Well!
Our very large and dark grange hall needed supplemental lighting. This was a cheap and easy way to do it, using clips to attach them to the hanging ceiling. We had no problems that others had reported with the plastic covers. We used 60 watt cfl’s to reduce heat and wattage. So that one string of 10 bulbs only consumes 130 watts instead of 600.

This is a highly durable set of lights. I have two in use at the moment. One is strung through a house we are renovating and it lights up the entire first floor very well. The other one is hanging outside over our outdoor skating rink. No issues with outdoor application for us. The cages are flimsy but the cord and sockets are robust. For the outdoor rink we first hung a steel cable, then used zip ties to hang each light.
